The training will comprise of a practical greenhouse session each day and course lectures each day. We plan to conduct the practical greenhouse sessions early in the morning before the heat of the day and then go to the community centre for the technical sessions for the remainder of the day. All day coffee and a light lunchon will be provided each day.
The Instructors.
Murray is probably the most well known face in the world-wide aquaponics movement. He discovered aquaponics in 2006, and immediately put his fibreglass and boat-building skills to work to build and sell aquaponics systems and equipment through Practical Aquaponics in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.
He is perhaps best known around the world, for his outstanding aquaponics full length video series: Aquaponics Made Easy, Aquaponics Secrets, and the recently released DIY Aquaponics. His entertaining and educational short videos can be found on you tube by searching for "Murray Hallam Aquaponics".
Murray has a trade and business background and together with tertiary education has developed broad Aquaponics knowledge and skills. His gold standard Aquaponics kits are distributed right around Australia in their hundreds and have also been exported to New Zealand, Hong Kong, United States. Feedback from Murray's large client base has provided valuable development data for our knowledge base Aquaponics.
Murray Hallam's
Practical Aquaponics.
Murray Hallam has conducted several training classes in Aquaponics over the last 4 years. These past courses have been held in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne Australia.
Additionally, Murray has conducted Aquaponics seminars in Oceanside California and Denver Colorado.
More recently Murray was a keynote speaker at the World Aquaponics Association Conference in Orlando Florida.
Murray is an experienced teacher and lecturer having also taught for a number of years at Ipswich and Bundamba TAFE colleges.
Wilson Lennard (PhD) has been studying aquaponics for the past 12 years. He is a PhD graduate from Australia (RMIT University, 2006) with practical commercial aquaponics experience and knowledge. Wilson's PhD centred on optimizing the aquaponic process in terms of maximum plant growth and nutrient removal for the Australian Murray Cod fish species and the Green Oak lettuce variety.
Dr Wilson Lennard also has proven commercial aquaponic experience that has shown that his approach to aquaponic system design and management is completely technically viable, producing fish (Murray Cod) growth and yields, and plant (over 25 species) growth and yields that are comparable to the relevant, associated, individual industries (Fish - Recirculating Aquaculture; Plants - Standard Hydroponics).
Dr Wilson Lennard.
Dr Wilson Lennard has more recently been involved in an installation and research Aquaponics system for Aquaponic Ventures Ltd of New Zealand.
The AVL trial system has been designed, constructed and commissioned by Dr. Wilson Lennard of Aquaponic Solutions from Melbourne Australia, using his unique SYMBIOPONICS™ method for aquaponic system design and management.
Results have shown that the system grows plants at a faster rate than even standard hydroponics, which is currently recognised as the most efficient plant growing technique in the world.
Dr. Wilson Lennard has optimised the technology so that it can also be adapted to a “low-tech” approach. He has designs for systems for developing world applications, to provide fresh protein and vegetable matter to people in geographical regions such as Africa and Pacific Islands.

Cancellation policy: Requests for cancellation of registration must be received in writing. Cancellations received by 12 February 2012, will be subject to a cancellation fee of 15%, which will be deducted from the refund. No refund will be made for cancellation requests received after 12 February 2012 .
If the event needs to be cancelled because of an unforseen cause beyond the organizers control (such as Acts of God, fire, strikes, and natural disasters, etc.) you will be refunded your registration fee less 15% to cover incurred organizational costs. Every attempt is made to ensure all information provided is accurate and that the student has attained the competencies delivered in the training course.
The student is responsible for maintaining their acquired knowledge and skills, and apply the acquired knowledge and skills in a way which is appropriate to their particular situation.
The student agrees unequivocally that Practical Aquaponics is hereby released from any liability, action and claims of whatsoever nature in connection with, or arising from, information, instruction or advice, obtained from Practical Aquaponics training course that may or may not have been applied to the students particular situation or project.
Courses, material and information is for the express use of the attending student .
Course notes and materials are not to be sold, lent, copied, published in any way either electronically, printed, hand written, audibly or by any other delivery or publishing method, or used in any way beyond the personal use of the individual student who has attended the Practical Aquaponics training course, unless permission is sought and granted in writing by Practical Aquaponics.
