Hey Bill,

Where's Joffa, haven't seen him at games for ages, I was told yesterday that the AFL forced him to stop wearing the gold jacket, so he's spat it... this true?

bill newton

Hey Bill,

Whatya think of last nights game?

I was hoping the Dorkers would give the Cats a better run for thier money, at least take it up to them and tire them out a bit.

Bloody Dorkers... can't even lose properly... all they did was give them a light training session! :frustrated:

I thought at the very least, once they realised they had no chance of winning, they might've crunched a few!... you know, make it a bit easier for us next week... it would've been the gentlemanly thing for them to do!

yea i watched it -- bit of a fizzer - but the sydney - carlton game last week was a ripper - down to the wire - and the best result ever!!!
i reckon we can take geelong - the last time we met collingwood did everything right - stopped ablett and chapman and mick out-coached bomber
we've got the wood on them - and we beat saint kilda last time easily
everything is going right at the moment - mick malthouse walks on water!!

cheers mate -- carna pies two games left!!!:broc1:

I'm hoping collingwood keep that in mind on the weekend. Soften up geelong for us in the Grannie. Perhaps this year we can change the result.

St Kilda should also make Milne take all free kicks whilst being held. god knows he cant kick a straight ball if its uncontested.

Thanks for trying :)

Collingwood are doing good, you should hear all the noise over there.Collingwood this,Collingwood that.rah,rah,rah.

Doing better than my mob though,we were so good we couldn't even make it to the finals...again...jolly wharfies...most frustrating team in the world.

Hey JB,

So you're a diehard Brisbane Lions fan and you sign off your posts as "Jonathan B"... is there something you're not telling us?

All I need to do is loose 20 years and as many kilos - you wouldn't be able to tell us apart...

Yabbies4me
15th September 2010, 00:12
Well that's alright then, coz I'm not a big fan... especially after what he did to our Harry a few games back!

Speaking of Fitzroy, many years ago Matchbox toys released a series of vans, one for each AFL team, I bought the whole range and packed them away. Fitzroy was one of them, but at the end of that season they became the Brisbane Lions.

So last night when you mentioned Fitzroy it triggered my memory... I haven't seen them for years, even when we moved house, so I asked the missus where they were... the answer... "What toy cars are you talkin about"... I can't help but think they're at the bottom her nephews sand pit somewhere!

:(

No thanks, but I could send a Cats one to you if you would like to come accross to the good side

and

I'm hoping collingwood keep that in mind on the weekend. Soften up geelong for us in the Grannie.

Good old Collingwood forever,
We know how to play the game,
Side by side we stick together...

they were awesome last night (though they only played two quarters!!) - ok mick - wrap them up again and keep them calm until next saturday -- theres still one to go!!
if it wasn't for garry ablett - geelong wouldn't have any stats at all
and joffa got his head on the box again!!

doggies or saints - we dont care - bring 'em on!!!!

carna pies - one more to go!!!!!drinkanim

bigdaddy
18th September 2010, 12:13
Hi folks,

No doubt about it, Collingwood blitzed them last night, and have played the best best footy for the last half of the year overall.

I hate to admit it, but you look the goods this year.

Cheers.

Yabbies4me
18th September 2010, 13:43
Thanks bigdaddy, I will accept that Kudos on behalf of the black and white army everywhere... cheers! drinkanim

and Bill, you're not wrong about Ablett, halfway through the third he already had 36 possesions , a career high, and there was still half an hour of play to go. I didn't hear what his total was, but it must've been right up there.

He's Queensland bound for sure I reckon!

bigdaddy
18th September 2010, 14:25
Hi Yabbies,

About 1.9 mill per year at Gold Coast and about 900 thousand per year at Geelong,I reckon I know what I would do.My bags would be packed, the kids wife, dog and cat would be lined up at the train station right now.Wouldn't you?

Cheers.

bill newton
18th September 2010, 17:42
yep according to the stats he had a total of 40 possessions - he's a very skilful player - his dad was a fantastic footballer but different - gary senior was fast as a cheetah strong as a bull and flew like an eagle - garry pert (collingwood fullback) still has studmarks on his shoulders were gary senior stood on game (about '94 or '95)
he was best on ground i suppose - but i'd still bet on dane swan for the brownlow!!

carna pies - one more to go!!!!:carrot::broc1:

bigdaddy
18th September 2010, 23:58
Yes Bill.

Gary Ablett senior was a sensational player in his hay day.

I still remember the Gary Ablett show(9 goals) in that 1989 grand final against Hawthorn, where Geelong lost by six points and Dermett Bereton got flattened in the first 2 minutes of the game.

Cheers.

RupertofOZ
19th September 2010, 01:11
So do I.... I was there...

bill newton
19th September 2010, 08:15
i remember that one - dermie getting flattened in the opening seconds - ablett kicking all them goals - paul couch in the centre - dipper getting flattened by an ablett charge - cracking his ribs - it was the hardest final i've ever seen - but what happened the following year???????????????????????

carna pies -- one more to go - remember 1990!!!!!!!Whistling

bigdaddy

I reckon,Collingwood by 19 points.

What do you folk think? Collingwood or Saint Kilda,by how many?

orcy2010
21st September 2010, 10:56
who cares. if the colliwobbles win it, we'll never hear the bloody end of it. If they lose, we'll never hear the end of that either, about how the umpires had it in for them, and you know, they were the better side and just unlucky, or some other rubbish.

If StKilda win or lose, all us StK supporters will just continue on with life as normal.

Yabbies4me
21st September 2010, 12:11

i reckon collingwood by 42 or 27 points!!!!!

Yabbies4me
21st September 2010, 21:54
I didn't get to see the second half of the brownlow count, but when i saw the final count this morning I'm guessing Dane Swan must've seen a few points got to his team mates like Pendlebury and Didak in the second half of the season! :frown:

bill newton
22nd September 2010, 07:46
yep yabbies - if you have one great player who stands out (judd - ablett) - they'll get votes all the time - whereas if you have a lot of outstanding players - they pull votes from each other -Whistling

thats my theory anyway

Unbelievable

I somehow feel they should have played another time period and have
a result.

I don't support either team yet was on the edge of my seat.

bill newton
25th September 2010, 19:07
we had it - we lost it -- we got it back -- great game -- look out saints next week!!!
i thought after 1977 there was provision for a draw (extra time) but the rules say not for the grand final - only the others
my wife is in tears -- not another one!!!!:frustrated::frustrated::frustrated:

carna pies -- one more to go!!!

Yabbies4me
25th September 2010, 19:11

But I believe they should've played another ten minutes or so!... sort it out there and then!

RupertofOZ

******, thought I was on a winner.... at least I didn't do my dough..

Yabbies4me
25th September 2010, 20:03
I thought with all the talls in St-Kilda that Presti' should've been included... was he not fit, or what???

But I can't agree with the inclusion of Magic Leon, legend that he is, he's been hot and cold all year, whereas Goldsack was hot to trot!

Alright, Magic scored one goal, but look at his overall possessions for the game, I don't know the figures, but by my reckononing it was about six!

Mantis
25th September 2010, 20:16
I reckon its great for all the players that were dropped. Now they have a chance for a grand final run. Doubt Leon will get another run, so someone else will.
I will be in melbourne next weekend so will feel the hipe. Maybe I could sell the second bed in my room, hmmmmmmm

bill newton
27th September 2010, 08:08
the draw in the grand final will upset a lot of activities - royal melbourne show is on next week i think - end of season trips will have to be postponed - presentation nights moved - the cricket pitches at the "g" were going to be installed this week - if its still a draw after next saturday they're going to play extra time - but what if its STILL a draw after extra time??????????? :frustrated::frustrated::frustrated:

Yeah, I forgot to say the environmental disaster continues..... noise pollution is rife.....

Just like when the cows won over here...it was almost unbearable...and when they did it again... man oh man...that was bad.

And I would of loved it if Saint Kilda won by 1 point. But nooooo, you guys had to come along and played some pretty decent footy, by all accounts.

Anyway if you guys couldn't win one by now, there would of been no hope for ya, you did not play a game away from the MCG since round 15 for goodness sake.

He was a legend before... but now!

It was also revealed on Saturday night at the Pies' official grand final dinner that forward Alan Didak relied on pain-killers to get him through the final four games after he tore his pectoral muscle off the bone in round 21.
