Hi Folks

Could you guys please have a look at my water quality readings and offer some advice?

I have been cycling my IBC system without fish for 4 weeks, I have had plants in the GB for the last three weeks. 1 weeks ago I added 50ml of Seasol.

FT 1,000l GB 650l - I will add more beds in a few weeks.

Two days ago (18/11) I added 100 Barra fingerlings approx 50mm in size. The picture shows my water quality readings. I find it hard to accurately distinguish the Nitrate level on the card... I have not seen any dead fish.

Prior to adding the fish the water was crystal clear it now has a slightly milky tinge.

The fish appear listless and hide around the pump. They are not eating and I have not fed for 24 hours. I have removed uneaten food.

There is a vast amount of circulating water as well as masses of air being pumped into the water.

Any ideas or do I just need to let the system settle down for a while?

ph is a bit high there. should be around 6 to 7. do you have any HCL acid? ad 10mL and test again in the morning. keep doing that till its down around 6.3pH. by keep doing that i mean add acid and wait till the morning to test, safest to only a djust a bit at a time. and you will need to moe that pH a bit so slow and steady

Tap water pH = 7.6 and yes, we have very hard water... lots of calcium.

Just added 10ml HCL acid and will test in the morning.
