Hi everyone, well we have been beguiled by aquaponics and have now assembled 3 x 1000 Ltr fish tanks and 5 x 250 Ltr grow beds plus the expanded clay beads to fill them. This project has been growing by the day thanks to some bargains (2 x fibreglass fish tanks with stands) that were too good to miss. However we need to put the whole thing together and hopefully make it all work. We need to know what size of water pump will we need to operate also what size of air pump (part of this gear was a kit and came with a 3500lph water pump) would appreciate your advice on this please. We have roofed the ex potting shed with polycarbonate so it is ready with 1 tank and the grow beds in place ( but no plumbing as yet). The 2 other tanks are too large for the shed so will have to be accommodated outside with a roof over them. This means that we will have to add them to the system later as we really want to get the thing going. The next thing to consider is should we make it a CHOP system, the grow beds are in a group of 4 with the other one sitting on top of the fish tank. If you can see any problems with this set up we:confused: would welcome your comments and advice please.

place all the tanks around your yard and let them sit for a day or two.....think about the placement and the fall of drains and such....once everything is plumbed you dont want to move anything.....
I followed my advice and STILL am moving my FT this weekend.....
Try to put your FT in a place where you can keep it cool and warm when needed......
and remember that you need a fall to your sump......but when you do you increase the pumping height (head) and will pay for that ......flow or $$.....
Good luck
