Er, How do I do it!
I'm going to be driving past a Yabby farm in a couple of days time and wanted to get some. Is there a nice easy way of transporting them for a few hours without a tank?

Hey JB,
You don't need a tank full of water, when I transport them I only put about an inch of water in the bottom of a bucket.
Alternatively you can put them in a wet hessian or calico bag, and keep it moist for the duration of the trip.
Cheers, Yabbies.

Thanks Yabbies,
Academic in the end, when I went up the valley it turns out the farm was lost in the Jan floods. Amazing how bad the landscape is up there. I guess I had forgotten how devastated the rural community was/still is.

One could imagine, just from the footage and photo's that were shown at the time.
A couple of times I've transported yabbies about 2hrs, I put about an inch of water in the bottom of the bucket, as I've said, but I also take a 2Ltr bottle of the source water, and tip out and refresh the water in the bucket about halfway through the journey.
Cheers, Yabbies.
