Greetings all

I have been growing fruit trees in conversional pots for a number of years now and continue to get root bound fruit trees, ant infestations, soil not getting adequatly hydrated, etc. I came across these Rocket pots http://trentcom.com.au/rocketpot-overview.shtml and have been trialling them for about a year now and am I getting good results so far. (no trees have died and all growing well)
I was wondering if anybody else has been using them and do they have an application in aquaponics?
I like the concept of the flood and drain watering for these pots and believe they could solve the aquponics fruit tree dilemma (roots growing everywhere) by using these pots within a larger empty container/drum vs drum with conventional gravel and following the typical aquaponics flood and drain system.
I currently use half seedling mix/sheep manure as the growing medium and am concerned that if I was to just place this pot with soil medium into the aquaponic setup, that the extra nutrients in the soil will leach out and cause havoc with the water quality, etc and kill the fish.

Secondly, I could just place an inert medium (maybe finer gravel than usually used) in the pots.

Thirdly, have no fish and work on the simply flood and drain watering method.

Any thoughts?

http://www.youtube.com/user/hsm8678 this person has done some very interesting stuff with aquaponics and trees. It is not your typical set up but works on the raft principal. It might inspire you with some ideals. The rocket pots I have not seen before or heard of.
