Hello from coastal North Carolina. I have a pond installation company and have just started my first AP system in my green house. I have 1ft GB and 250 gallon FT. Things are going nicely with bell siphon. Fish less cycling right now...learned the hard way that it is the best way. Question: What is recommended ratio for flood time vs drain time. BtW I use hydroton as my media. I do have plants in the system and they are doing well with the liquid kelp for now. Plan to add fish in another week. They are in the hospital tank still. HI, If you are using a timer to flood and drain, then, the fill cycle largely depends on your grow bed size and the pump you have. Most often it is around 15 minutes.
Then, by observation you wull see how long it takes to drain the grow beds back to the sump or fish tank depending on your arrangement.
This is most often around 45 minutes.

Using auto siphons.....they will regulate their own time. Some of my smaller beds are taking around 8 minutes to complete an entire cycle and some of the bigger ones take around 12 to 15 minutes to complete the entire flood and drain cycle.

It is all good.
