Thread: Salting the waters

    Default Salting the waters

Hi all after some suggestions. Recently had a whole crop of rainbow trout bite the dust due to a fungal infection. I want to salt the replacement water to hopefully prevent this happening again. What ratio do you run salt:water ? Is it ok to leave salt in permanantly ? Will it hurt the plants at all ?

Well not technically...ppt means parts per trillion technically speaking, and parts per thousand are parts per thousand.....Although a lot of people post ppt meaning parts per thousand.

    Cheers.

I put just on 800 grams aquarium salt in a fresh load of water in a nally bin system (about 750 litres) Should give me about 1ppt ? I think. Going to restock it with trout next week after its settled a bit. See what happens this time.
