It is difficult but not impossible to plumb not using PVC pipe. The thing to remember is that the inside of all the pipework is very quickly coated with bio film which gives a good barrier between the water and the PVC pipe.

The move to a better chemical free life is to do the best one can at all times. I think we can do a lot to reduce the use of suspect materials.

Further, it is easy to "major in minors" if we are not careful. Some folk get all carried away about the use of a few mtrs of PVC pipe while still commuting to the city and back stuck in traffic breathing in all those fumes. One days commute would most likely equate to a couple of decades of PVC use in an AP system.....

Not trying to be flippant about this, but do the best we can with what we have. New and better materials will be found as we all keep looking.

Did you intend to post the same post in two places ? I will delete the other or this one ?????

This is where ("forum," "thread," or what the hell else a conversation has to be called these high-tech but can't spell "cat" days) I thought I was - the football lounge area (FLA?) - when I asked about quality of materials imported from China. We're being driven nuts here by all the shoddy junk.

If its stuff that's pretty run of the mill, elbows, T's etc and your just nicking down for some bits, print off the 'cart' from wetearth, whose prices are already phenomenally low, then head to bunnings.

Hand it to the lady at the counter and ask for the "cheaper anywhere else and we will beat it by 10%" offer.

you will be stunned how cheap you can get it for.

its has saved me a small fortune.

Saying that, i use wetearth wherever possible, the $17 for postage to here is usually worth the cool bits i can get from them!

Yeah, i prefer to give wetearth the business... but might be worth doing to get me out of trouble in a pinch on a weekend for instance.
