Thread: Which kit to choose?

    Post Which kit to choose?

    Not sure which kit to go with! Is anyone able to tell me the dimension of the 950 litre and 1250 litre fish tanks, as I am trying to decide which size will fit in my shed. I would be interested to hear from anyone out there as to which kit they have and why they chose that one and how well it is working for them. The Balcony Maximus appeals to me but it only has a 950 litre fish tank (I would rather the 1250 litre tank plus a fingerling tank) and the Duo has the 1250 litre fish tank but only two grow beds, so may have to think about going with the Quad. Any thoughts???

    What sort of space do you have for your kit?

    I don't have experience with any of them, but i would suggest if you have the space - go for it - it's addictive and you'll be glad you have the higher production capacity!

    Here are some pix of a great kit we do which is not on our website anywhere, which is a bit silly. I must get around to putting some pix up one day.

    We called it the Maximus twin Tank.

    Great for those who want to keep two species of fish, say Trout in one during the winter and Silvers in the other all year round.

    Beautifully balanced kit. All beds are media beds giving good filtration and growing area.

    The Maximus Twin Tank looks great, might be just what I want! So, is this kit based on 2 x 950 litre tanks, 2 x 585 litre grow beds and 2 x 200 litre grow beds? What other extras are included in this kit? Also, what is the price? Would it be possible to house the fish tanks in this kit in a separate shed adjacent to the greenhouse where I intend to put the grow beds?

    There is a list of inclusions on our website for the Maximus which is pretty much the same for this kit.
    See list of inclusions here.

    Yes, it has 2 x 585 + 2 x 250 and 2 x 925 ltr fish tanks. Also has clay pebbles for all beds.

    $ 5465.00

    If you want bigger tanks then it is better to move up to a DUO or QUAD kit that are based on the 1250 ltr tank,

    My greenhouse is 14' x 8' . Just wondering if the QUAD kit would comfortably fit in, taking in mind the fish tank would be in a small shed next to greenhouse. If you feel the greenhouse would not be large enough, then maybe another kit could be suggested?

    14x8 is going to be (sensibly) full with a Balcony Maximus inc tank. With the tank else where, you will get three growbeds in there so it looks like the obvious options are:

    1. Balcony Maximus or

    2. Bespoke kit with three beds and a 1250 ltr main + fingerling tank for the shed.

    Which ever way you go, you will end up with a nice system which can be easily added to if needed. I have the standard Balcony Maximus with an extra bed added which seems to be a great balance for the way I do things. I've added a photo of the main system that I took last weekend to show how its been suffering in the coolest, driest Qld winter in a long while! (the third tank was behind the camera)
