Recommended Book

Hi Guys,

I found this amazing book about permaculture which I am finding hard to put down. The book is called "The New Complete Book of Self Sufficiency" by John Seymore.
In the book he describes many aspects of rotating the way land is used on a one acre, and 5 acre site, and the kitchen garden. In addition to organic gardening and keeping animals he discuses methods of fruit and veg presevation, home brewing and even how to make your own cheese and butter.
I have added a link to show the book's contents. It is a UK site but the book is available in Australia.
The only downside which dosen't detract too much from the book for me is the fact that it was written with the English climate and seasons in mind. However most of the principals are the same and others might require some slight adjustments.

Yep great book i have had my copy for 30 years i have loaned it out a dozen times

Another book i just picked up is
Preserving the Italian way by Pietro Demaio
he is a doctor and goes back to his roots

Thanks Fishfood. I have read some reviews for the book and Preserving the Italian Way is one that I will definitely add to my bookshelf on payday!

Hi fishfood

I've been making the formula on page 28 of preserving the italian way for
a number of years now and highly recommend it on toasty bread when you
just want to nibble on something. (but I only put in two to three chillies not ten that he does).
