Aquaponics Systems

How do I set up my
float Switches ?

Australian Aquaponics.
BELOW: Hand drawing of a typical Aquaponic system showing the float switch and an external pump on the Fish Tank.
The float switch has a piggy back plug that just plugs into the 240 volt wall socket, then the pump plugs into the piggy back plug. The Float switch will then operate the External pump system.

The float switch has a piggy back plug that just plugs into the 240 volt wall socket, then the pump plugs into the piggy back plug. The Float switch will then operate the Submersible pump system.
Submersible pumps for Aquaponics are available from www.aquaponics.net.au with or without float switch. I recommend that a Submersible (Manual operation) without Float Switch be used in the fish tank coupled together with the additional float switch. This allows more adjustment in the fish tank. If you wish to use a automatic submersible in a large tank, then you will need to suspend the submersible from a shelf (or stand it on some concrete blocks) within the tank so that the float switch which is attached to the pump can reach the surface.
It is better to have the pump on the floor of the tank as this assists in the removal of solids that sink to the bottom of the tank (fish poo etc)
