Newsletter 2010 # 4 a
Rookies of the week !!
New Aquaponics kit.
|
|
Hi I am Anthony and my wife Suzanne I are the Aquaponics Made Easy rookies of the week.
All my life I have loved to grow things and a lot of my working life I have spent in various farming environments doing just that.
It was a few years ago that I first visited Aquaponics Made Easy and I was immediately interested, but the possibility of a move delayed our decision for some time.
The move did occur. We moved to the same property as my wife’s aging parents so that we can care for them when needed and in a situation like this there needs to be something for us too.

Left:- Inside the orchid house. The new roof sheeting can be seen.
The install has begun.
On the property was an orchid house that had deteriorated rather badly in the 30 years since its construction so we removed some of the old fibreglass sheeting and replaced it with new clear Laserlite sheets.
Just prior to this we had placed our order for the Aquaponics Made Easy Patio Kit and while we waited we did as many little things as possible to make the site ready and we started raising seedlings of all our favourite plants.
Left:- Install almost complete, bamboo skirt to go on. Pump is running, water is flowing!
Suzanne and I were like kids at the Christmas tree the week we were expecting delivery.
Suzanne being a shift worker had Wednesday and Thursday off and was desperately hoping it would be one of those days, but as Murphy would have it she was back at work on Friday morning when it arrived.

9:35 the ute arrived and was unloaded, and by 12 noon the system was in and all systems go. We have a bore on the property and it supplied the Neutral Ph water for the tank.
I was straight into it with the planting and when Suzanne arrived home from work we finished filling all three planter boxes with seedlings we had lovingly raised.
Our list of plants include:
Zucchini, Squash, Cucumbers ,Tomatoes,
Beans ,Silver beet, Celery, Broccoli
Brussel Sprouts, Sweet corn, Eggplant Capsicum
Wom bok. Herbs. Salad mix.

Every spare moment we are checking on our babies.
We sit on the lid and time the auto syphons.
Everything is just great and the whole project is wonderful therapy after a hard day at work.
The next stage will be the introduction of the fish and then feasting on the produce.
Mmmmmmm! Can’t wait.
Thanks Aquaponics Made Easy. |
