Particulate Filter with Nitrification Chamber and Air Diffusers. POA.
This filter is manufactured from marine grade fibre glass resins and coatings. This piece of equipment will give good service for decades.
This filter is particularly suitable for use in Aquaponic and Hydroponics systems.
Usually this filter is placed in line after the nutrient rich water has first passed through a swirl filter to remove large solids. The gentle but high volume of water passes first through two up - down chambers to allow further settling of any solids in the nutrient rich water. The nutrient rich water then passes through a nitrification chamber filled with Ovi-Flow medium which is bathed in diffused air. The water then passes into one last settling chamber before passing out to the grow tables or Grow troughs. Individual sump drains are fitted for each settling chamber.
Aquaculture and Aquaponics systems. The filter provides the function of removing particulates and by the use of beneficial bacteria converts the ammonia present in the water from the fish tank/s to Nitrates. The Ovi-Flow medium together with generous quantities of appropriately diffused air provides a intense and very efficient nitrification environment.
Hydroponics systems. By providing a nitrification chamber to contain and encourage beneficial bacteria the overall efficiency of the nutrient is enhanced, resulting in higher yields. Beneficial bacteria are the keepers of nutrients. They consume and carry nutrients such as N, Ca, Fe, K, S and P in their biomass and release it for plant food when competitors such as fungi, protozoa or chitin and cellulose degraders consume them. These beneficial bacteria consume toxic materials that are present in the hydroponics environment or that have been released by anaerobic organisms. Additionally this filter further cleans the water by allowing fines to drop out as the water passes through the up-down chambers.
