Clay Pebbles are light and are visually attractive. Clay Pebbles are very easy on your hands when planting seedlings Clay Pebbles are easy to transport....packed in 45 ltr bags. In city or suburban situations it may be very difficult to obtain and transport gravel to your home or unit.  Gravel is very heavy. If you are placing your Aquaponics kit on a area that is not on the ground floor then using Clay Pebbles will cut many kilos of the total weight of the system.  (Be sure to consult with the body corporate or landlord regarding the load the floor in your unit can carry before setting up your Balcony Kit.) If you are using grow beds that are not as strong as fibre glass such as poly, then it is good to use Clay Pebbles. On the down side Clay Pebbles are much more expensive that ordinary gravel. On the down side Clay Pebbles take a lot longer to wash clean than does ordinary gravel.
