Nitrite is the product of the first of the benificial bacteria that reside in your AP system.
Your tests should indicate NITRITE in the early stages of cycling your system. Once the system has fully cycled the NITRITE test should read zero.
NITRITE is harmful to your fish. Even low levels affect the red blood cells of fish,reducing their ability to carry oxygen,thus causing suffocation and even death.
This kit tests for NITRITE and measures levels from 0 to 5.0 ppm. Kit includes 180 tests
