Selected Size/Selection: Kit excluding Media
This simple, stylish aquaponics system integrates two type of beds into one structure. The lower level is filled with water, making a combined sump and raft bed, and the top section is a media bed. A great combination of growing methods in one neat, attractive structure.
With a footprint of about 1.5 m x 2.5 m (about 5' x 8') (excluding fish tank), this is a neat little system for small spaces.
The Flat Pack does NOT include a fish tank. You will need to provide this yourself. One about 250-1000 L (about 66-260 US Gal) is ideal. The plumbing and instructions are suitable for a variety of tanks; in our pictures (and in the instructions), we have used a 1000 L (260 G) IBC/tote-tank as the fish tank. These are usually fairly easy and cheap to get second-hand. Just make sure they haven't had any nasty chemicals in them.
The Flat Pack also does NOT include the grow media. You will need to provide this, about 300 L (~1/3 cu-m) (~11 cu-ft).
Construction of this kit requires no special building experience. If you can use a power drill and a hammer, you're well on your way!
Start growing some of your own food at home, with this compact aquaponics system. Fresh, home-grown organic crops right from your own backyard. Can't get much better than that!
