The grow medium of our Seedling Raising System!
We use vermiculite in our very own seedling-raising routine here at Practical Aquaponics.
Use Coarse to fill the pots, and Fine to sprinkle over the top of the seeds to keep them moist and dark.
It's an excellent material for using in net pots for aquaponics systems.
When planting out into your aquaponics system, you can leave the seedlings in the same vermiculite-filled pots - no need to remove them.
The vermiculite readily absorbs the nutrient-rich water and keeps the plant roots well supplied with moisture, aeration and nutrients.
Vermiculite is clean, sterile and non-toxic, meaning it is perfectly safe to use in your aquaponics systems. It won't rot or deteriorate, and can be re-used.
It's also a great water-reservoir material for wicking beds, and can be used in dirt gardens to improve soil texture and water-holding ability.
A safe, versatile and useful material. Keep some on hand for your seed-raising!
