Product Details

Shannida and Matt have been interested in Organics and Permaculture for much of their adult lives.  Vegetable growing has always been a passion for both of them.

Aquaponics came to Shannida's attention while completing her Bachelor of Ecological Agriculture at the University of Sydney (Australia).  Her particular focus is Ecological Production Systems, including organics, permaculture, biodynamics, and aquaponics.

And they both have certificates in horticulture.

Like Murray Hallam, a drought led them to seriously consider aquaponics over their previous in-ground organic growing methods.  For years, now, they have successfully run several flourishing aquaponics systems.

In this book, they bring your their years of knowledge, to help you get going in aquaponics, too.

The book covers everything you need to know to get up and running in aquaponics:

  • How aquaponics works
  • Design requirements for a good system
  • Types of systems and growing styles - advantages and disadvantages of each
  • Extreme climates
  • Energy efficiency
  • Water-quality parameters and control
  • Maintaining the system
  • Plant considerations
  • Fish considerations

This book is a definite plus for anyone getting into aquaponics, and as a reference for those who've been doing it for a while.  A great addition to your aquaponics library!
